Rafting, Tubing and Kayaking

River Tubing Adventure

The 1.5 mile river tubing trip features great scenery and real good current highlighted by 5 easy class I rapids that begins and ends conveniently back at the outfitter’s location. Guests are required to make their own reservations and must choose to arrive at one of three times listed: 10:15a m, 12:15 pm, and 2:15 pm.

Paddle Adventure River Trip for Kayak and Canoe on the James River

Guests can choose from one of two different river trips each taking 2-3 hours to complete and can paddle either trip in a canoe, kayak or raft.

  1. Springwood to Buchanan – a 5 mile, 2 hours featuring several easy class I radids starting 10:30 pm OR 3pm
  2. Buchanan to Arcadia – a 6 mile, 2.5 hours featuring lots of class I and three class II rapids starting at 1:30 or 2:00 PM.

Trip Requirements

Customer will need to make reservations by calling (540) 261-7734 and drive themselves to Twin River Outfitters located 11 miles south of Natural Bridge, just off I-81 in Buchanan. All participants must be able to swim and must wear provided life jackets at all times while on the river. River trip includes tubing or kayak/canoe rental, paddles, life jackets, safety orientation, and use of dry bags and all required shuttles.  For more information, check out their website: Twin River Outfitters 

What to Bring

Dress for the outdoors and be prepared to get wet. Most folks wear shorts, tee shirts, and appropriate footwear. Many folks also bring sun screen, drinks, snacks, hats, and sun glasses all depending on the weather and how long you plan to be on the river.
