Natural Bridge Hiking

Virginia's Natural Bridge ParkWhile the historic Cedar Creek Trail is our most accessible trail, we are currently developing a trail system for visitors that wish to explore the more remote parts of the property.

Our first-ever trail is the Monacan Trail, named after the Native Americans that occupied some of the western portions of Virginia. This moderately strenuous 3+ mile loop is accessible from the back of the hotel near the water tower, and winds through the hills and ridges above Cedar Creek, passing creeks and wetlands and giving great views of the Short Hills to the west and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east.

Our brand-new trail is the Buck Hill Trail, created by the Pathfinders for Greenways of Roanoke Valley Greenways. This 1.5-mile round trip trail begins at the Picnic Area at the Caverns, and winds just over half a mile until it ends. Though the trail is currently an “out and back” trail, a loop ending is in the works.image (2)

Some of our trails may be muddy or wet, and pass through unshaded areas, so waterproof boots and sunscreen are recommended. Keep some bug spray handy, too!
