Travel and Transportation

The Natural Bridge in Virginia is great for Virginia Getaways, Virginia Vacations, and Virginia Weekend Vacations as well because it is so convenient to most other areas around the southeast and mid-Atlantic region. On this page we have included some helpful directions for those traveling from some of the popular areas that our visitors come from.

The Virginia Natural Bridge is one of the oldest landmarks in the United States and one of the most unique natural features in the world. In addition to being home to the Natural Bridge landmark, Natural Bridge VA is home to other great Tourist Attractions in Virginia including the Natural Bridge Caverns, the Toy Museum, Wax Museum, historic Natural Bridge Hotel and Natural Bridge Restaurant, scenic Virginia Hiking Trails, Mountain Biking in Virginia and excellent golf! The Natural Bridge VA is an ancient, natural land formation that formed from Cedar Creek, a nearby creek tributary of the James River, carving out the limestone in the mountainous terrain surrounding it. To the Monacan Indians that lived in the region, the Natural Bridge was a sacred site, and to George Washington who visited, and Thomas Jefferson who later owned, it was a strange and remote place that seemed to bring about peace during the troubling times of colonization and then the American Revolution.
